Key performance indicators for turboelectric distributed propulsion

Purpose Recent advancements in electrified transportation have been necessitated by the need to reduce environmentally harmful emissions. Accordingly, several aviation organisations and governments introduced stringent emission reduction targets for 2050. One of most promising technologies proposed achieving these is turboelectric distributed propulsion (TeDP). The objective this study was explore identify key indicators enhancing applicability TeDP air transportation. Design/methodology/approach An enhancement valuation method overcome challenges associated with terms technological, economic environmental impacts. result (RIs) were determined; performance (PIs) analysed RIs PIs identified. Quantitative measurements acquired from a simulated case model estimate established PIs. Findings It determined that real-world efficiency could be enhanced up 8% optimising identified Originality/value This first include techno-economic risk analysis (TERA) based on findings guide developers researchers towards potential focus areas realise adoption TeDP.
